Isel Bridge House

A Georgian river house, taken whole.

An exclusive-use Georgian house on a salmon beat of the Derwent, with four double bedrooms in the main house and four in the cottage, a large kitchen, riverside lawn and the mossy arches of Isel Bridge at the foot of the garden. The main house sleeps 8, the cottage sleeps 7. For families, friends, and the kind of weekend that needs no agenda.

The story

Isel Bridge House is a Georgian river house on a private salmon beat of the Derwent, four miles upstream of Cockermouth. The garden runs to the water; the mossy arches of Isel Bridge sit at the foot of it.

The whole house is taken on exclusive use — four double bedrooms in the main house and four in the cottage, a long kitchen-dining room built for a table of ten, two sitting rooms and a boot room for the wet kit. The main house sleeps 8, the cottage sleeps 7.

It's a house for the kind of weekend that needs no agenda — fly fishing on the doorstep within the rules of the river and times of year, walks straight out into Isel Park, and Cockermouth or Bassenthwaite a ten-minute drive when you want them.
